The Story So Far

Six months ago I was a photographer with a plan. The plan involved a newsletter about photography tips.

What arrived instead was an essay about permission. Then another one. Then I couldn’t stop.

That was the beginning of Still Becoming: weekly essays on permission, imposter syndrome and the specific, worthwhile work of building a life that actually fits.

Where the ideas come from

I live in Scotland, originally from New Zealand. Most mornings I walk with my dog, Rip. Those walks are where most of the ideas come from.

Still Becoming was built in the gaps of a full life. Twenty-minute windows. Early mornings. The occasional Sunday afternoon.

That’s what everything here is about. You can start now, in the life you actually have, from exactly where you are.

I'm Jules. I help midlifers pick up their dream. The one they've been carrying at a slightly reduced size for longer than feels comfortable to admit.

Still Becoming

Still Becoming is a weekly Substack publication. Free essays, every Wednesday. Launched January 2026. Now reaching readers in sixteen countries.

Free to read. Paid subscribers get the essay behind the essay, the full archive and early access to new guides and daily practice.

What's Coming.

Something new starts in September. A short guided programme built from the guides, running daily for a few weeks, with a weekly live call and a group doing the same work at the same time. Details will land on Substack first.

If the essays land and you want to go further, that's where to start.

The Wide Life

The Wide Life is the umbrella for all of it. Still Becoming. The daily practice. The guides. The coaching.

The Wide Life is not a destination.  It’s an orientation toward your own experience: the ordinary, specific, already-happening life you’re actually living.

Still becoming. Always. That’s the whole point.

Still Becoming launched January 2026. 150+ subscribers across 22 countries. Growing every week.

Wolfe & Fox Photography - still trading. The camera is still out. The dream refined, not abandoned.

Scotland-based. New Zealand roots. Walking most mornings with Rip, who is not interested in being still.
